Hair Reduction with 810 Diode Laser

Laser hair removal uses technology in which a beam of light is applied to unwanted hair on various parts of the body. This light is a specific wavelength that targets the melanin - the pigment in the hair that gives it color in the hair follicle. When the light enters the follicle, it is converted to heat energy that destroys / inactivates the follicle preventing the hair from growing again. 

There are 3 stages of hair growth. Anagen - active hair growth, Catogen - a brief phase in which growth stops and resting begins, and Telogen - a resting phase in which no further growth occurs. In order for laser treatments to be effective, hair must be in the active growth stage - Anagen. Because individual hairs are at different stages of growth at any given time multiple laser treatments are required to target all of the hair. This is the reason each subsequent treatment must be spaced out appropriately.

The diode laser uses a single wavelength of light that has a high abruption rate in melanin. By allowing only the hair follicle to be damaged, preserving surrounding tissue, this will make your treatment process as comfortable as possible.

• Hair grows in cycles, making it necessary to receive a series of treatments. This varies fro person to person. Each treatment is spaced between 4*6 weeks apart a minimum of 6 treatments recommended. 
• Please shave 12-24 hours before your appointment (if I have to shave you it will cost)
• Do not tan or have any direct sun exposure for 2-4 weeks prior to appointment
• Do not wear Makeup, lotion, deodorant if you can help it, if you are wearing this it will be removed prior to your treatment. 
• Do NOT wax, thread or tweeze for 2-4 weeks prior. 

• A thin layer of gel will be applied to the skin to allow for a smooth glide of the handpick. 
• A gentle warming sensation of the skin will be apparent and very tolerable. 
• Depending on size of area treated the session will last 15-30 mins. 

• No down time associated with this treatment and you may resume normal activities with some exceptions. 
• Avoid picking or scratching skin, do not use any other hair removal during treatment (waxing, electrolysis or tweezing). 
• Wash and pat dry for 2 days and on 4th day start to gently exfoliate skin. 
• SPF is always recommended post treatment. 
• Treated hair can take 1-2 weeks to be excreted from the body and to fill out. 
• You are allowed to shave between treatments. Do not wax/tweeze/thread or use depilatory products. 
• Do not exercise, take hot showers or use hot tub or sauna for 12-48 hours.

No, children are not allowed in the clinic when laser treatments are being performed, if your child/children are over 13 and able to sit in the lobby by themselves then they are ok to come. Anyone you bring in the room with you has to be 18 and over and will have to wear protective eyewear during the treatment.
